South Austrian Gospel

"Isn't Gospel where these American big mamas, are dancing and shouting each sunday in church - like Sister Act?" - well, yes but it means so much more. Gospel actually means good spell - in other words good news. So this is the content of our songs and the reason why we sing: We sing to God's honour and give him all the praise to spread the good news he gave us through his word - the bible: John 3:16 says:

 

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

 

 If this isn't a reason to rejoice! This happiness gives us the motivation to share our good feeling and make people start to think about God.

What is this for?

What we do is worship music - this doesn't mean we put ourselves first but God. It's him we sing for and our objection is to show him through the music how grateful we are. We thank him for our lives. He gives us joys, that we never need to suffer hunger nor thirst, that we don't need to be afraid of war nor other danger - we are thankful that he is always with us and only wants our best.

 

"I alone  know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for." Jeremiah 29:11

Worship's only option isn't just singing but many other. The main reason to do worship is where we can make use of the talents and skills we've got from God - so with our 50 members there are quite a few. Some you can enjoy at our concerts: For instance the musical talent of our choir leader Manuel Graf or the art of the selfmade dances, the play scenes and video clips. Many others are also functioning in the background so these people are good at organisation or to make sure we are never hungry during our rehearsals. Either way - everybody can feel free to make use of their talents and try new things.

 

Because God is always with us and for us, we can expect amazing things from him. Our aim  is to reach people with our music - to tell them the Good News which fills us with so much joy and hope and that‘s what‘s uniting us. Therefore we are not just an ordinary choir but a family - children of God.

WHat does "EC" mean actually?

"EC" is a German acronym and means "Christian Endeavour" (CE). But it's not us who came up with it, it was made by a Youth Movement about 100 years ago which took place in the US. Still you can find the term in Germany and also many other countries worldwide. As the only CE national association in Austria we from the south (Carinthia) belong to the german CE.
